After more than 30 years of experience as a professional dancer, teacher, producer and entrepreneur, I've realised I now need to spread all the knowledge these experiences have given me, using technology to reach as much people as I can, to keep sharing my passion and helping others develop and grow their dance careers as well. That's why I created Nesma Academy, a unique space to learn, discover, and enjoy everything related to dance.

This includes not only the techniques of movement, but also expression, music, theory and culture, as well as guidance and advice for people that want to dedicate themselves to this beautiful profession. I'm sure it'll be super useful for you, and it will help you train effectively and enjoy learning this dance style.

I won’t write you my whole biography here, but for those who don’t know me, I'll tell you my story briefly. You can visit my personal website if you want to learn more about me.

 I discovered oriental dance as a teenager, whilst I was acting with my brothers in a television show in Spain. Completely bewitched, I started to train it in Spain and France. In 1993 I travelled to Cairo to learn more about this dance and its culture. I did a completely unplanned audition and got hired to dance at the Pyramisa Hotel: that's how my professional career began as a soloist in Egypt, with an orchestra of 20 musicians. I spent 5 years dancing 3 to 5 shows every night at the most renowned nightclubs in Cairo. In 1997, I decided to change the course of my career, when I met Mahmoud Reda and Farida Fahmy. I started working in the National Company Reda and from then on I never stopped collaborating with Mahmoud Reda, teaching and performing his dances until the present day.

In 1998 I founded my school and started my own dance company in my home country, Spain. It was a new phase, with more focus on teaching and creating theatrical shows to bring dance to theatres. In 2004 I launched my own record label, and in 2005, the Raks Madrid festival. Since then I have travelled around the world participating in countless festivals and teaching my dance style wherever I go.

Years later I returned to Egypt with my company to perform on the prestigious stages of the Opera House in Cairo, the Alexandria Library and the Opera Said Darwish.

It has meant a lot of effort and dedication, but I'm very proud of everything I’ve accomplished. Now I just want to share all I have had the chance to live and learn, so you can live it and learn it too, in order for you to find your own way and successfully build your dance career, professionally or not, depending on your goals. The most important thing is to enjoy our shared passion and to show the world how wonderful this art form is.

At the moment, Nesma Academy is not recommended for beginners. It aims to give advanced hobbyist and professional dancers additional resources to deepen their knowledge and develop their careers. Nesma Academy doesn’t teach basic technique or progressive training for beginners.
